 Located about 45 minutes drive by
rental car or taxi north of the Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo
Airport, TRONCONES is very accessible.
Several major airlines fly into the airport including Alaska Airlines, America
West, Continental, Mexicana,
and AeroMexico.
Cars can be rented at the airport from Alamo, Budget, Avis, Hertz,
and Dollar. A car can be useful in Troncones, but it is not
necessary. Taxis line up outside the airport, and the village
of Troncones also has excellent taxi service.
On the way to Troncones from the airport, you first pass through Zihuatenejo,
a bustling town with a beautiful harbor, a classic Mexican mercado,
an artesans' market, and even a huge gringo style grocery store (La
Comercial).
Next is the turnoff to Ixtapa, a flashy modern resort with high-rises,
golf courses, tennis courts, and discos.
Then you drive north on the highway passing three small villages, Salitrera, Pantla, and Buena Vista before the turnoff to Troncones. After you pass Buena Vista, watch for a shrine on the left side of the road. Shortly beyond is the Troncones turnoff. The Troncones road comes to a T at the beach. Turn right and follow the dirt road about 1/2 mile until you see the Casa La Paloma gate and cactus garden on the left. Bienvenidos (welcome) and let the good times roll. |
